If you live in an apartment in Glen Allen, VA you know there are all kinds of fall-type festivals that take place in the Richmond area throughout the season.
Here are just a few of the fun festivities you can enjoy this weekend.
New Kent County Fair - Friday, Sept. 12-Sunday, Sept. 13
The 43rd annual New Kent County Fair will be held at Colonial Downs Racetrack. Grand Opening Ceremony is at 5 p.m. on Friday and the annual parade takes place Sat., Sept 13 at 10 a.m. Entertainment, carnival rides, vendor market, 5K race and more. Admission is free, parking is $5.
43rd Street Festival of the Arts - Saturday, Sept. 13
Shop art from local artists, enjoy live music and dig into festival food at 43rd Street and Forest Hill. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Center of the Universe Oktoberfest & Das Bier Run - Saturday, Sept. 13
New! Grab your lederhosen and head to COTU for the inaugural COTU Oktoberfest and Das Bier Run. Expect authentic German food, music, and liter steins of beer. Plus COTU has teamed up with the Richmond Road Runners Club to host “Das Bier Run.” Das Bier Run is a 4 person team relay event where each member runs a 1 mile loop in the airpark. Ridiculous costumes are encouraged and rewarded. After the race, entrants can walk back to the brewery where German food will be available for sale along with 3 different German Style beers. Also featuring music from Elbe Musikanten, a 13 piece German band. 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Chesterfield Chamber Craft Beer Fest - Saturday, Sept. 13
New! First time craft beer festival held on the Village Green at Westchester Commons in Midlothian. The Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce is pairing up with Martin’s for the first ever Chesterfield Chamber Craft Beer Festival. More than 30 craft beers from the area will be poured for sipping and sampling…just in time for fall. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of, with a special $50 VIP ticket with early entry, special beers and complimentary food. Noon to 6 p.m.
Richmond Spoke & Hop Fest - Saturday, Sept. 13 & Sunday, Sept. 14
Craft beer and craft bicycles converge at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. This two day event will showcase a combination of over 50 cycling advocates, vendors, Virginia breweries and fabricators at Hardywood, include all-inclusive sampling for guests, live music, film, food and demonstrations. Proceeds from the Richmond Spoke and Hop Fest will benefit both the Richmond Regional Ride Center and the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild providing a foundation for our rising culture of craft beer in Virginia. Saturday noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Shockoe on the Halfshell - Sunday, Sept. 14
Virginia oysters are no secret. We have them and they are fabulous! Celebrate all things oysters at Shockoe on the Halfshell where you can get your bivalves raw, steamed, fried, with sauce or without. Plus beer from Anheuser Busch and live, local music. The event is free to attend. Food and beverage are available for purchase. Noon to 5 p.m. 17th Street Farmer’s Market.
Food Truck Rodeo - Sunday, Sept. 14
New! The first ever Food Truck Rodeo is planned for Sept. 14 at the Chesterfield Towne Center. Expect 30 to 40 food trucks, all in one place, plus beer and live music. Details are still being finalized, stay tuned! Should be an all-day event, free to attend, beer and food pay as you go.
Tubes & Taps - Sunday, Sept. 14
Tubing party! This event includes tube, transportation to and from Crossroads, meal after float, live music, and excellent Foothills and New Belgium tap offerings. $40. 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
