Octoberfests Around Richmond, VA

If you live in an apartment in Glen Allen, VA then you are going to enjoy the month of October. Here are a few of the Octoberfest celebrations taking place around Richmond.

Ardent Craft Ales is celebrating its first ever Octonight on Wednesday, Oct. 1 to celebrate the release of three brand new beers and a full tap line, for the first time ever. They will have eight beers on draft including the new Virginia Common, Sweet Potato and Sage Autumn Ale, and Pumpkin Ale, all debuting in the taproom. To round it out, they'll have the last of the season's Honey Ginger, a limited batch of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Honey Ginger, as well as their IPA, Saison, and American Mild. Starts at 4 p.m.

Get your freshly-shucked oysters (and beer) at Oystoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 4.Featuring oysters, brats, bands and beer at Ginter Park’s St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church. $2 donation suggested. Noon to 6 p.m.

Hogtober is not a German fest, but it is a celebration of fall done Southern-style with BBQ, beer and music in Church Hill’s beautiful Libby Hill Park on Saturday, Oct. 4. Ardent Craft Ales – which got its start in Church Hill and recently opened its first taproom in Scott's Addition – will be the headlining beer of the event. Noon to 7 p.m. Free entry.

The Virginia Hops and Harvest Fest returns for the third year in a row at Pocahontas State Park on Saturday, Oct. 18.  It’s a day-long celebration of Virginia craft brew, food and outdoor adventure. Featuring beer from Devil’s Backbone, Starr Hill, Hardywood and many more. With music from When Rock Was Young – A Tribute to Elton John, Quebe Sisters, Paul Plumeri and more. Gates open at noon.

Richmond Oktoberfest celebrates 46 years on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18. Now held in the Old Dominion Building at the Richmond International Raceway, the two day event delivers German music, dancing, German food and Oktoberfest beers. Over 5,000 people attend every year. $12 in advance; $15 at the door. Friday & Saturday 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Pumpkins, beer and pumpkin-flavored dishes flood the Boulevard for the Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, Oct. 25. New this year, an expanded kids’ section and a kids’ movie night at the Redskins Training Center. Pumpkin Festival will feature dishes from Richmond restaurants and beer from Scott’s Addition breweries like Ardent, Hardywood, Isley and more. Boulevard between W. Leigh and Marshall.  Free. Noon to 6 p.m.
