Hardywood Gingerbread Stout 2014 Release on Friday & Saturday
It’s now practically a Richmond tradition – and a Richmond sign of the holidays. Beer lovers lining up around the block at Hardywood to get a crack at the highly praised, limited release of Hardywood Gingerbread Stout. Described as “freagin' Christmas in a bottle" by BeerAdvocate, Gingerbread Stout will have an early bird release on Friday night at 9 p.m. after the tasting room closes. On Friday night, GBS will be available in 750mL bottles (4 bottle limit per person) to go only, along with a selection of other seasonal merchandise. The lines will be cut off at 10:30 p.m., and there will be no on-site consumption. But fear not, the main event returns on Saturday with food trucks, music and plenty of GBS to go around (hopefully!). GBS will be available at 2 p.m. in 750mL bottles (4 bottle limit per person) and 32oz and 64oz growler fills to go only. GBS will be available in 6oz and 12oz pours for consumption at the brewery. The Museum Stores of Richmond Holiday Shoppers Fair on Friday & Saturday
It’s the 20th year for the Museum Stores of Richmond Holiday Shoppers Fair where you can shop from 15 of Richmond’s most popular museums under one roof. This year, the fair will be held at the Library of Virginia. Expect to see unique gifts and wares from Agecroft Hall, Lewis Ginter Botanical GardenThe Poe Museum, John Marshall House, the Richmond Railroad Museum, Science Museum of Virginia, and many more. The Gala of the Royal Horses on Saturday
If you’re a fan of the Lipizzaner Stallions, this one is for you. The Royal Horses of Europe will visit Richmond for the first time ever. Think dancing horses, flowing manes, and beautiful girls in sparkly costumes. Andalusian, Friesian, Lipizzaner and Arabian horses will perform at the Richmond Coliseum, along with Spanish flamenco dancers. They canter, trot, and perform maneuvers once used on the battlefield known as “The Airs Above the Ground.” Tickets $37 to $75. 7:30 p.m. 601 E. Leigh St.
GRAZE on Grace on Sunday
Think of it as a mini-Broad Appetit. GRAZE on Grace is a food festival on Grace Street serving up sampling dishes from over 25 of Richmond’s best restaurants. The event will take place on four blocks of Grace Street from 4th to 7th Street. Admission is free and sample plates are set at $3. The event was originally scheduled for October 2012, but was postponed due to Hurricane Sandy. And now, finally, it’s here. Noon to 5 p.m. Grace Street from 4th to 7th Street.
